The series of rooftop images were taken from the spire of 1680 Vors Frelsers Kirke (Our Savior’s Church) in the Christianshavn district of Copenhagen, Denmark. I loved the Danish architectural style and the ever-charming convergence of the Old World with new green structures. The perspective from the spire allowed me to capture the feeling of bundled color and the kind of stacked texture you see walking along the canals.

My greatest interest when shooting a photo is determining a composition where the subject tips its emotion or personality to the flat graphic quality of its shape, almost neutralizing it for visual interest. This tendency is likely due to working with the eye of a graphic designer: searching for what creates the most contrast in the composition and finding patterns or repetition.

LAND & BODY
In this black and white series, I paired two sets of photography where this simple correlation jumped out at me later in retrospect. It made sense which landscape images conversed well with the metallic nudes—they rely heavily on reflected light on rock and ice. These are very superficial qualities, but when paired they project a purposeful relationship.
